Alternative facts are nothing new

190415-20Perhaps the claims by elites that their system is benefitting, or will benefit, everyone are part of the reason why so many are pinning their hopes to populists like Trump. Perhaps ordinary people have experienced that this is also an alternative fact.

Swaziland is nominally a middle income country that is seldom condemned by world leaders and rarely mentioned in the international media, even though it is one of the most unequal, poverty-stricken and unfree countries in the world, and even though King Mswati spends millions of dollars on prestige projects and personal jets while his subjects starve. Det kunne have været mig

Reflekterer vores mediedækning og sympatitilkendegivelser af terrorangreb og andre katastrofer mest af alt, hvorvidt ofrene kunne have været eller ligner os selv? Når man ser på forskellen mellem den massive fokus på terrorangrebene i Paris, og på dem i Beirut, Kenya og Nigeria tidligere på året virker det unægtelig sådan.

Den 13. november dræbte terrorister mindst 129 mennesker i Paris. TV2 News ryddede sendefladen og sendte fra Paris i time efter time, mens aviserne fulgte trop både online og på tryk. Read more of this post

Terror-kondolence til Thorning fra koloniseret folk

ANår kondolencerne strømmer ind fra lande som det besatte Vestsahara efter terrorangrebet sidste uge, skal vi huske at terror, konflikt og sultedød er hverdag i store dele af verden.

Tirsdag sendte præsidenten for eksilregeringen i Afrikas sidste koloni, Vestsahara, et kondolencebrev til Helle Thorning-Schmidt i forbindelse med sidste uges terrorangreb i København. ”Jeg sender mine mest dybtfølte kondolencer til den Danske befolkning, og til de terror-dræbtes familier”, skrev præsident Mohamed Abdelaziz blandt andet i brevet til statsministeren.
